(Somatic Experiencing Practioner)
I am honored to have the opportunity to work with you and hope we can work together to build a space that honors your individual needs. I specialize in areas of trauma, depression, anxiety, and social stressors.
I am a clinical social worker practicing psychotherapy for over 25 years. My early work with children and families who experienced abuse was grounded in systems theory and practice. As I shifted to primarily working with adults and individuals, I have added other modalities, including mindfulness skills and practices. I have a specialty in trauma and eating disorders with certifications in Somatic Experiencing: a way of working with and integrating the body and central nervous system with the mind, spirit and energy.
Somatic experiencing has brought me full circle, back to systems philosophy, but with an understanding of how we embody our experience in the broader context of social and historical trauma.
I practice with the understanding that social and historical trauma is the root of oppression that drives individual trauma. Racism, sexism, disability, discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identification, religious affiliation, sexual assault, and abuse are all forms of oppression that occur in the context of our social structures. I am committed to work toward healing that frees us from our individual suffering and that supports equity and freedom by challenging the personal and social structures that perpetuate oppression.
